The NY NY YSA Stake Presidency

Yoshiya (Josh) Yamada

Stake President

President Yamada was born in Tokyo Japan, and his family emigrated to Calgary Alberta Canada, where he graduated from high school. He attended BYU, served a mission in the Japan Sendai Mission, went to medical school at the University of Alberta, and is an attending physician at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center specializing in treating patients with spine tumors. Sister Yamada was born in Minneapolis MN, grew up in Gainsville FL, and graduated from Timpview High School in Provo UT. She served a mission in the Portland Oregon Mission, and attended BYU where they met. Apart from serving in the church, President Yamada is an avid fly fisherman (even ties his own flies). When he travels internationally for work, he likes to bring one of his children along. Sister Yamada is a big time genealogist, and has written a book about the life of her great grandmother. She can’t resist a good estate sale and loves desserts of all kinds.

Jason Bond

First Counselor

President Bond moved to New York City 15 years ago for a one-year assignment for work. His employer asked President Bond to stay for a few more years and he’s been in the city ever since. President Bond moved to the city after graduating from BYU’s accounting program and is currently a partner at Ernst & Young LLP, an accounting firm in the city.

President Bond grew up all over the country. He was born in Jacksonville, Florida and lived there for 11 years before his family moved to Sandy, Utah. After another 7 years, his family moved again to Valencia, California (Southern California). President Bond’s parents have subsequently retired to Utah, where he frequently visits them. President Bond has three brothers, one sister, and 16 nieces and nephews, all who live in Utah or California.

President Bond served a mission in the Louisiana Baton Rouge Mission and loved it! It was such an amazing, but different, culture with wonderful food and the nicest people.

When he’s not working, President loves enjoying everything the city has to offer (Broadway shows, great international food, parks, and cool experiences). He also loves to travel. Most of President Bond’s family members are certified scuba divers, so some of his travel destinations center around that. He also loves to snow ski.

President Bond loves the YSA stake and serving in it. He served as the stake clerk when the stake was first created, and he has been serving on the high council for the last year. He also loved his time as a YSA in the city. When he first moved to the city, he attended the Manhattan 8th Ward (a predecessor of the Lincoln Square YSA ward) and then the Harlem YSA Ward. President Bond looks forward to getting to know each of you and serving with you.

Douglas Jepsen

Second Counselor

President Jepsen was born and raised in San Jose, California, along with two older brothers and an older sister. He served a mission in Maceió, Brazil and studied accounting at BYU. He moved to the NYC Metro Area four years ago, spending one year in Connecticut before moving to the Big Apple. President Jepsen currently works in Deloitte's merger and acquisition (M&A) advisory practice.

Outside of work and Church service, President Jepsen enjoys most forms of athletics, reading, and cooking. He loves living in Manhattan, including the opportunity to live just a few blocks away from both Central Park and Riverside Park. He also enjoys good conversation, especially on topics like financial markets, science, public policy, and international relations.

President Jepsen has enjoyed the opportunity to get to know many of the stake members over the last two years while serving as the stake clerk and he looks forward to getting to know everyone he hasn't met yet, as well! He loves serving in the stake and is grateful for the opportunity it provides to meet with, serve alongside, and learn from the incredible members of the stake.
